Treasures...

Grandma quilts have love in every stitch.  ~Author Unknown

We were cleaning out the basement today...making room for the "upstairs" stuff to come downstairs.  (The boys we're adopting will sleep upstairs in our bonus room.  Follow us at: http://heavenstreasureadoption.blogspot.com/)  As we cleaned, we found some "treasures" from days gone by...including an unfinished blanket that my great-grandmother "MaMaw Ruth" had started!  Below are pictures...

About 1/3 unfinished, but isn't it beautiful?

It still had the needle and yarn
where she left it...

Such detail...gorgeous!

$0.97 for a skein of yarn?  I like that!
Just looking at the beauty of it, the details, and thinking about the hours of patient needle work makes us appreciate it even more!  It is indeed a treasure.  I also think about the legacy of faith she and my great-grandfather left for their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  "A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children's children..." (Proverbs 13:22)  We were blessed to have called them our own!

Before I close I have a few more "treasures" or old keepsakes to show...

We found my Momma's long, lost "Nannette Lyla"...
her beloved, childhood Cabbage Patch doll!

A beautiful mirror from a great-uncle!

This book was copyrighted in 1922!  Neat!

That's it for now!

Until next time...remaining in Him!

How amazing!--and your mother thought that it was all "junk" down there. That "junk" did turn out to be "treasures." No doubt MaMaw Ruth left that quilt with the needle and yarn still in it for her great-granddaughter to finish it for her. She probably is looking down with a smile on her face.

So glad you found Nannette Lala--you or Leah can pass it down to your granddaughter.

We love your blog and can't wait to read more. I have the most TALENTED grandchildren in the whole world. You and Katy are doing a FABULOUS job with your blogs.

We are so proud of you and love you dearly,

MaMaw and PaPaw

Thank you MaMaw and PaPaw for the sweet comments! We are honored to have MaMaw Ruth's blanket/quilt and maybe I'll finish it one day! It means a lot to me!

I love and appreciate you both, very much!!!
